| | parents urging me to get dressed & pack for my train in 1hr | ] | ...just about to embark on a c. 1500 km, 20 hour combined (normal and sleeper and then normal again) train ride that was to take me through two major European capitals and to the shores of la Vendee for a celebratory passage into a better New Year,
-the shit hits the fan: the whole thing is goddamn falling apart, through no fault of the kind (and equally disappointed) organizer himself, but rather the participants' bailing out.
Hmm. Maybe I can return my train tickets? Too late, Mom has already made my pack lunch. Hmmm. Maybe I should have gone with any one of the invitations and different locations in Poland (e.g. on the Baltic Sea, in the mountains etc.). Or just gone to Berlin for what was yet another option. Or back to London. Maybe I'll just stop in Berlin and crash that party there after all. Or crash something somewhere in Paris.
...and a Very Happy New Year's Eve to you too! |

| "...Modern Britain: multicultural, racially liberal and anti-immigrant to the core." |
[Dec. 12th, 2004|06:22 pm] |
A recent poll of the British public opinion included in the latest Economist (11 Dec 2004):
% of respondents saying their neighborhood would disapprove if more people from the following communities moved in:
-Iraqis: c.65 -Pakistanis: c.55 -Romanians: c.48 -Black Africans: c.42 -West Indians: c.40 -POLES: c.25
Had a good (hearty) laugh, I must say. At least the Aussies were included too, in at position No.7 (c.5). |

| A Few Days in Brussels |
[Dec. 12th, 2004|06:06 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | amused | ] | Brussels outwardly reminds me not a little of Warsaw - in terms of the "eclectic" (you could even say outright "bordellique" in places) architecture, the badly-paved sidewalks, and the winter "grisaille" combined with considerably colder-than-London temperatures; it also has its share of beat-up cars.
I am therefore counting on the warmth, open-minded-ness and intellect of the people I will be meeting with over the next two days as I try to scout out opportunities and position myself for a possible hop over here sometime in 2005. |

| | tired | ] | 10 laps in 25m indoor pool, 5 laps in 25m outdoor (heated) pool, 30 mins intensive supervised (whew!) abs & back workout
-trying out the "Oasis Sports Centre"* right next to work. Tired, but what a good tiredness it feels for once...
Promise of better behavioral patterns to come, hopefully..?
*brought to you by the London Borough of Camden, c. £35 full monthly membership instead of the standard £70-and-up range at those private capitalist leech places. |

| The Eagle Has Landed... |
[Sep. 22nd, 2004|07:49 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | tired | ] | ...in London, albeit in a rather insufficiently-furnished, -cleaned and -appliance/functional apartment, lacking most of the simple things we take for granted. Normal life activity on the premises therefore remains minimal, life-support still being limited to the occasional fast food meal intake.
I desperately will need to procure the following basics in order to be able to continue with anything at all: -cereal bowl, plate, spoon, knife (for breakfast purposes) -new bed and matress and bedclothes (as the ones present are unacceptable) -new computer and internet connection (for lj, plus general means of communicating with the outside world) -about a million other things which I have no idea when and how and where-from I will get/transport/install...
The mailbox has been proudly inaugurated by two senders and with two fantastic packages. Keep it coming guys :)Someone still loves and thinks about me, I tell myself. It helps. |

1) Je suis dans un vortexe psycho-existentiel;
2) Je viens de faire du mini-moto au Palais du Tokyo;
Last but not least, je rends hommage a jeremie_sfya, |

As of tomorrow March 13th, I am a free man.
Will have lots of free time too, and so will try to explore the above condition.
Details and reflections to come. |
